First-timers book Jasná because it's cheap Eastern European skiing with good terrain. They book the cheapest apartment they can find in Demänovská valley (£40/night) to maximize savings. They spend their week cooking and commuting, saving £150-200 versus booking a slope-side 3-star hotel with half-board (£70/night + £12 half-board = £82/night with meals included). That slope-side hotel would cost them an extra £180 for the week but deliver ski-in/ski-out access, no cooking, and hot meals after skiing.
