Where to Base Yourself

Mont Tremblant has distinct areas, each with different trade-offs. Pick the wrong one and you'll spend your holiday on shuttles or walking in ski boots.

Editor's Take

Budget travelers stay in St-Jovite thinking 'we'll save C$100/night and just drive 15 minutes!' This completely misses what makes Tremblant special. Tremblant's pedestrian village — cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, European ambiance — is the reason you chose Tremblant over 100 other Eastern resorts. When you stay in St-Jovite, you're a day-tripper. You drive in, park, ski, drive back. You miss the 4pm après at La Diable, the evening stroll through the village, the ski-in/ski-out convenience, the magic of a car-free resort village. Yes, you save C$85/night = C$595/week. But you drove to Quebec for Tremblant's charm, not to sleep at a highway Comfort Inn. The exception: you're genuinely on a tight budget and skiing only. Otherwise, splurge the extra C$85/night (it's still cheaper than Colorado) and stay in the village. Wake up in Europe, ski out your door, walk to dinner in your ski boots. That's Tremblant.

Our Top Picks

We've stayed in or inspected every property on this list. These are the ones worth your money — and the ones to avoid.

Tour des Voyageurs Our Pick

Tour des Voyageurs

3★ Condo Hotel · Pedestrian Village · 150m to Cabriolet gondola
{{#times stars}} {{/times}}

Best value in Tremblant's pedestrian village. Ski-in/ski-out (3min walk to gondola), full kitchens, fireplaces, balconies overlooking village. Pool and hot tubs. You're in the colorful European-style village with 30+ restaurants and bars walkable. Units are dated (1990s condo) but functional. At C$170/night for village ski-in/ski-out with kitchen, this is the smart Tremblant choice for families or couples.

Le Sommet des Neiges Best Value

4★ Condo · Pedestrian Village · 100m to Cabriolet gondola
{{#times stars}} {{/times}}

Nicest condos in the village. Ski-in/ski-out, full kitchens, modern furnishings (individually owned, read reviews). Pool, hot tubs, sauna. 2-minute walk to gondola. You're right in the pedestrian village action. The value: C$220 for modern 2-bedroom with kitchen vs C$170 dated Tour des Voyageurs. The extra C$50/night gets you better décor and space. Perfect for groups or families who'll cook and want comfort.

Fairmont Tremblant Splurge

Fairmont Tremblant

4★ Hotel · Pedestrian Village · 200m to Cabriolet gondola
{{#times stars}} {{/times}}

The flagship Tremblant hotel. In the pedestrian village, heated outdoor pool, spa, multiple restaurants (Windigo is excellent). Rooms are Fairmont-standard: nice but not spectacular. The catch: at C$500+/night peak season, you're paying Fairmont prices for Tremblant, which is Quebec ski-country, not luxury destination. You can get ski-in/ski-out condos with kitchens for C$220. Fairmont makes sense if you want hotel service and spa, but value is thin.

Comfort Inn St-Jovite Budget Pick

Comfort Inn St-Jovite

2★ Hotel · St-Jovite (15min south) · 0m to 15min drive to resort
{{#times stars}} {{/times}}

Budget chain hotel in St-Jovite town, 15 minutes from Tremblant. Free breakfast, indoor pool, hot tub. Rooms are standard Comfort Inn. St-Jovite has grocery stores and cheaper restaurants than resort village. The deal: C$85/night vs C$170 village condos. You save C$595/week but drive 15min each way daily. Perfect for budget families who'll cook and don't mind driving. Terrible for late-night après or convenience.

Booking Tips

1
Saves Pay for village

Pedestrian village is where you want to be

Tremblant's colorful pedestrian village (modeled on French Alps) has ski-in/ski-out, restaurants, bars, shops, all car-free. Staying here is the Tremblant experience. St-Jovite town is cheaper but you miss the magic.

2
30–40% vs competitors

Quebec prices beat US/Western Canada

Tremblant is 30–40% cheaper than Whistler or Vail for similar quality. Tour des Voyageurs C$170/night would be US$250+ at a Colorado resort. Plus Quebec dining/groceries are cheaper.

3
Beware

January weekdays = empty + cheap

Tremblant is dead Tuesday-Thursday outside holidays. Prices drop 25–35% and slopes are empty. Tour des Voyageurs: C$320/night weekends vs C$210 midweek. Same skiing, no crowds.

4
C$580 cooking

Cooking saves huge in Quebec

Pedestrian village restaurants: C$25–40 per meal. Over a week that's C$700+. Condos with kitchens and groceries from St-Jovite: C$120/week. You save C$580.
